K4KU – Jason Strickland
Jason Strickland (K4KU) is an amateur radio operator based in Atlanta, Georgia, with a passion for communication, community building, and technical innovation. Active on digital voice networks and repeaters across the East Coast, Jason serves as an occasional net controller on the East Coast Reflector, having recently taken a small step back due to increased work travel. Even so, he remains engaged and committed to supporting structured, inclusive, and welcoming on-air conversations.
Jason is also active on FT8, enjoying the technical precision and global reach that digital modes make possible. His operating style emphasizes clarity, efficiency, and respect for all operators—whether they are seasoned hams or newly licensed enthusiasts.
In addition to his on-air activity, Jason serves as a volunteer examiner with the WM7X remote exam team, helping new operators enter the hobby and supporting the continued growth of the amateur radio community.
Professionally, Jason works at the intersection of education, technology, and government affairs, bringing a unique perspective to amateur radio. He is especially passionate about expanding access to technical skills and sees ham radio as a powerful gateway into STEM, public service, and lifelong learning.
When he’s not on the radio, Jason enjoys experimenting with new equipment, optimizing mobile and home station setups, and contributing to conversations that strengthen and modernize the amateur radio community.
